Instead of a deep, defect free shine protected for years, they get a glossy but flawed finish with the imperfections preserved beneath. This falls far short of what a coating can deliver when applied correctly, and the contrast with a properly prepared and corrected car is stark, particularly on dark colours where defects show most clearly.

This is why polishing, and correction more broadly, is treated as an integral part of a proper coating service rather than an optional add on. The whole point of coating is to protect and showcase the paint, and that only makes sense if the paint is in its best condition first. Removing the defects through correction ensures the coating seals in a flawless finish, allowing the full beauty of the paint to shine through and be preserved. The combination of correction and coating delivers a result that coating alone never can, which is why doing both properly matters so much.
