Skipping it would compromise the result, so a reputable detailer always builds proper preparation into the schedule rather than treating it as an optional extra.

If a protective coating is to be applied after correction, this extends the timeline further. A ceramic coating in particular needs the paint to be perfectly clean and prepared, the coating to be applied carefully panel by panel, and then time to cure before the car is exposed to water. Depending on the coating, this curing period can add a day or more to the booking. Combining full correction with a ceramic coating therefore represents a longer commitment, but it ensures the flawless finish is properly sealed in for the long term.

It is also worth understanding why rushing paint correction is counterproductive, because the time involved is not wasted but is fundamental to the result. Correction is a process of carefully refining the paint in stages, assessing progress as you go and adjusting the approach to suit how the particular finish responds. Hurrying any part of this risks either leaving defects behind or, worse, removing too much of the clear coat in the pursuit of speed. The detailers who produce the finest results are those who take the time the paint demands, working methodically panel by panel, and this patient approach is precisely what separates proper correction from the quick machine polish that promises much but delivers a compromised and short lived improvement.
